B- // Get Lucky // Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams

  • No name calling
  • Not objectifying
Pharrell insists the lyrics are not strictly sexual, but just about the luck it takes to meet and connect with someone. He's also said the song is really about feeling lucky to collaborate with Daft Punk, which is largely supported by the verses. It's unclear to whom the pronouns refer. Is "we" the boys club or she and I? Is "you" a woman or is it Daft Punk?
  • Women not really in relation to man. Whether or not she's included in the "we," she seems to be independent and out on her own...he wants it to be in relation to him. He may be up to get in her pants. She's up having fun.
    • She's up all night to the sun,
I'm up all night to get some.
She's up all night for good fun,
I'm up all night to get lucky.
  • Women as empowered?
    • We've come too far
To give up who we are,
      So let's raise the bar
And our cups to the stars.
